I currently own a PC with an external HD. i've got it connected to the intranet via a wireless network. I'm looking to purchase a macbook in the next couple weeks. how can I access my external hd thru my macbook? KVM? network?

So the External Harddrive has it's own internel IP address? If so you just connect to it using Connect to Server.

Or do you have a PC with an external hard drive directly connected to it? If so you will need to make sure the drive is shared. Then use connect to server then type:

SMB://[internal ip address of PC]/[name of shared folder]

it will then ask you who to log in as

Enter the name and password of the PC which the HDD is connected to.

or you can just share the drive on the other computer and connect to it via "Network" in finder.
