Just wondering, how would you 'map' directories onto another drive? I'm thinking of getting an external drive (and a new, faster internal one) for my mini. Is it an easy job to 'move' the Music/Movies/Docs directories to the other drive, so they quick links on the left of Finder link to them?

    Hmm...

I can't honestly remember how I did it, but I have done exactly that on my desktop Mac.

I'd like to know how I did it too as I honestly don't recall. :o

I can tell you that it is possible and I have seen no ill effects from doing so though. :)

Well you just have to respecify on iTunes, iPhoto, etc... where to save the music/photos/etc on the hard drive.

AFAIK its that easy... you might need to press something to move all the music/photo/etc there tho

I've done something so that the links in the sidebar go to the directories on the external drive, but the icons are the original icons, so I'm pretty sure I didn't just drag the folders there from the external drive. :dunno:
