How come the soundblaster X-fi extreme expresscard is nowhere to be found?
    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=16&product=16741

I google it, search for it on newegg and ebay, but it seems it's disappeared. Anybody know why? It's listed on creative's website.

I googled it and a listing for Dell came up.

However, when I click on it, the item is no longer available. It seems to be the only card for expresscard that will add 5.1 What's the deal? Anybody know of any other options?

i would get an asus xonar DX over any creative card, even for gaming.

    it's about 80-100, does 5.1 and 7.1 and is pci-e

prices for this card have been stable since it came out, i've been waiting for this to go on sale...

Thanks deus. Screw it. Check my other thead. I'm just going to build my rig/media pc and use audio from there. Save money. Plus, I am realizing it is stupid to have a soun card stick out from the side of your laptop. I had an Audigy 2 ZS and it always got in the way if I needed to pack up the lappy.

if you have 5.1, you can hear the footsteps of the bad guys creeping up behind you if you turn up the volume. That enhances playability.

I guess I can see that, but this is where part 2 of my question comes in: why are you gaming on a laptop? That plays to all of its weaknesses: lower speed, poorer graphics, bad heat-dissipation, and utilizes none of its strengths: compactness, portability, battery life. Not to mention, 5.1 kinda requires more speakers than is practical to carry around with you.

For you, there is Miles Emulated 3D and a pair of headphones.

Lol. I was joking. I dont game on a laptop. I dont game at all really. I was being sarcastic. I agree with you, game on a desktop. Use a laptop for what it's made for.
