Experiences with Tanita Body Fat Scales??

    I posed this question in another thread, but it was buried and kind of off-topic so I thought I would start a new thread.

    Anyone familiar with the Tanita scales that measure both weight and BF%??

    Have any of you done a back to back comparison with one on a skin fold test or dunking?? I've been using it for a while, and it seems to be pretty consistent as long as I use it under the same conditions... usually right after I wake up after the morning leak. I have only had a skin-fold test done once, and it was within 1% of what my scale had told me that day... but that is not an big enough sample to make any accurate comparisons IMO.

    My body fat went from 16% to 25% over 2 days. its so accurate!

    With care and consistency you can get fairly good relative body fat readings. The absolute reading will probably not be that accurate though.

    I've found it useful as another number to track.

    Were you comparing at the same times of days... and under the same conditions (eating/drinking/time before or after a workout) etc.??

    I have noticed my readings fluctuate too... but day to day under the same conditions, it stays pretty much the same.

    if you drink alot of fluids it will throw the bf rading off. Mine does that if I drink like a gallon of water in a day, i always weigh after a morning shit and piss. You do it at night and it will drop bf after you piss.

    I returned my tanita scale...

    that bitch said I was 17% body fat... calipers placed me just under 10% at the time.
