....and bought my first gun. I have never been more stoked. Got a Springfield XD series 3" barrel sub-compact. Came with hip holster, 2 standard 10 round mags and one 12 round with grip extension. Never shot a Springfield model so I can't wait to get to the range. Pics:

BTW, any Dallas peeps know of any shooting leagues or clubs. I would REALLY like to try some type of civilian-style tactical stuff. I doubt it exists but thought I would ask.

Yea, I know. But it feels comfortable and I have heard nothing but glowing reviews so I'm confident. :p

I've heard many more reviews of the opposite opinion.

How about you test it out before carrying it and we call it even.

Good on you for arming yourself AND seeking training.
Nevermind the folks in here who are flaming you. Maybe one day, their parents will let them buy firearms.

Sounds like you got a good head on yer shoulders.
I would avoid buying a gun I haven't fired, but sometimes, it just isn't practical. I can't think of any range around me that rents out XD's...too much of a liability with the slides rusting to powder and all. :fawk:

i have herd both bad and good about the XD. i had a chance to put 200 rounds through one of the .40 models, and i have to admit, i liked it alot. alot of people will tell you that if it feels good in your hand, you will shoot well with it. i dont think thats true all of the time, but it had held some truth in the handguns i have shot.

I would of got one when it was still called the HS 2000. They were really cheap then, under $400. Now springfiled has jacked the price way to high.

Dude, have you been making out with your computer or something? Clean your screen, you slob. Hope you don't let your XD go like that, or it'll be a rust bucket in no time.

And travis, I'm inclined to agree with you. The HS2000's were awesome deals. There is probably an added amount of quality control, though, that comes with Springfield adding their name to the thing, though.

Yup, I bought Neil's yellow '69. Me and wtchef (Robert) work together.

Ok, I expected this much from OT so whatthefuckever. I took it to the range last night and put about 200 rounds through it and it performed as expected. Very comfortable and very accutate. I hear good and bad about every handgun out there regardless of price or manufacturer. I love it and can't wait to customize it.

That is with everything, you will hear good and bad things about any gun, and I would bet most people saying their heard bad things in any case never owned what they are commenting about

I shot an XD for the first time last week. It was a 4" (I think) in .357 Sig.

Overall, I liked it a lot.

The only bad reviews any of you people hear is about the finish. Simple fix, buy a $6 can of armadillo and apply it twice a year. No more finish problems. I have over 2000 rounds through my xd. No problems of any kind.

texchef, you made a good choice, and I'm sure you'll love that gun.
