So, whenever I pretty much do anything involving lifting or running, or even walking outside on a hot day, I sweat a lot. It's pretty disgusting. After about 30 mins of lifting I am drenched in sweat. 30 minutes of running and it looks like I took a shower in my clothes.

I've never been in good shape and I've sweat this much for a long time, so as I start working out regularly will I start to sweat less? How long will it take to get myself to not leave a pool of sweat on the bench after using it? Are there any supps I could take to change the amount I sweat?

EDIT: I sweat most from my back, forehead, forearms, armpits, and my ass :o

    How's your thyroid?

Do you find it easy/difficult to gain weight?

I don't know about my thyroid, my mom has had a lot of problems with hers, however.

I used to have a great metabolism but I've gained 45 lbs in the last 2-3 yeas, and it wasn't muscle. College eating paid its toll on me. I havent really tried to lose weight yet, but am starting now. Whenever I try to lose weight I lose interest after a week before getting into a niche.

I have the same problem. I don't even like to go outside if it's hotter than about 75. At work I have to wear a t-shirt under my dress shirt, and I have to stuff my armpits with folded up paper towels or I will be pitted out after about 15 minutes.

I've had my thryroid checked. My doctor told me the reasons I sweat a lot are: 1) I'm high strung, 2) I eat a lot + 3) I have a very fast metabolism. Whatever I eat basically causes my metabolism to speed up to burn it off, which generates heat.

I have also tried prescription deodorants which didn't work very well.

Summer is miserable for me :( I am always hot. My A/C bill in the summer is ridiculous. I hate doing things outside because I always drench my shirt after a few minutes. By "doing things" I mean tasks such as going for a walk outside, or walking from my car in the parking lot to whatever building I'm headed to. I won't ride in people's cars if they don't leave the A/C on high (sorry, windows down doesn't cut it unless it's < 50 degree outside. The hot air from outside doesn't cool me down). Not only is it uncomfortable (no one likes being hot), but it's fucking embarassing. I won't lift my arms up cuz my pits are wet with puddles the size of CDs.

I wonder if you can condition your body to accept the heat better... like could I put on a few sweatsuits and sit in the sauna every day until my body accepts that as "normal," and then I won't wanna kill myself if I go outside when it's 80 degrees?

But I like the winter. I don't even need a jacket unless it's like <40 outside. People think I'm nuts. I think my body is a little fux0red.

I was considering having armpit sweat gland surgery, but they say your body produces x amount of sweat, and if you remove the sweat glands in your armpits you'll just start sweating from other places, like your palms or feet. Gross.

I hear you can also get Botox injections in your armpits which is supposed to cut back on the sweating. Botox lasts for like 6 months, so if it sucks it's not like it's permanent.

Falconer I sound just like you.

I was naturally very skinny, find it VERY hard to gain weight and the more I eat, the hotter (temperature!) I get. I sweat shitloads and it's awful.

So there's no real way to combat this sweat? Not even if I get in shape? :wtc:

    It's funny sometimes.

    (in the winter)

Me: "I'm going to the store"

Someone else: "Don't you need a jacket?"

Me: "Nah, I just ate a pizza."

edit - but at the same time, sometimes, if I haven't eaten anything in a while, I'll get like really, really cold. I mean like I'll be sitting there shivering like an anorexic girl in the summer. But this doesn't happen unless I didn't eat much the day before and I haven't eaten much on the current day, either.

And your thyroid was totally normal?

Do you tend to sleep quite a lot, little or just normal (8hrs-ish?)

I'm gonna try and get mine checked at work on Monday. Sweating, tiredness, weight issues etc are all symptoms.

I knew I always used to feel hotter than most people but it's getting unbearable now. April was the hottest April ever recorded for us, and it's getting even worse. It's now 3:06am here and I have two windows open and I'm wearing only boxers and I'm not cold.

And yeah, getting into better shape might help. A lot of the sweating is because you're overweight and exerting yourself more. As you get more fit, less exertion = more sweating. Plus, not carrying around lots of heat-insulating body fat will help too.

holy shit this thread is my life, except im not out of shape. I work out 5 days a week and I eat pretty well. I have fast as shit metabolism but no diagnoised thyrod problems. my mom had half her thyroid removed and she has to take medicine everyday for it.

i sweat like a motherfucker. Like I'll walk outside to my car for a few minutes and my face and clothes will be drenched in sweat. yesterday at prom i was inside my friends house, i wore a tux but my jacket was off, but i was literally pouring sweat out of my face. i had to get a bunch of paper towels to dry it off, everyone noticed. my shirt was wet for like a day after i took it off cuz of all the sweat.

i also love cold weather. ill go out when its almost freezing with shorts and a tshirt and ill feel great.

at the beach its really bad because ill have the sun tan lotion on, and ill start sweating a lot, and i will look greasy as a motherfucker

I'm 5'8 at 150-155lbs and I exercise 2-3x a week. I always watch what I eat before heading out the door because depending on what I eat, for example something with high gi index would make me perspiring like crazy after 5 blocks walk to the train station. If I eat something like oatmeal (low gi), I would sweat less but when I get to class, I was like wtf, I was literally sweating puddles through my armpits and head. Nowadays I hardly eat breakfast and rather eat lunch instead. I dont know if any of this makes sense, I just know I sweat more than a average person.

man, i sweat profusely too even though i'm in relatively good shape. if it's the slightest bit stuffy, beads of sweat start coming down my face. then it gets embarrassing when you're the only one in a group sweating so you start sweating even more :hsugh:

Ah, but a sweaty big strong guy is more intimidating than a sweaty out of shape fat guy. At least this way (if you were big) they would try to be more discreet when picking on you.

i feel your guys pain... my armpits get really sweaty.. two T shirts on and i still sweat straight thru to the second one, sometimes a little, sometimes a fucking lot. however, hope is at hand boys, as i went into a chemist and found some nuclear powered deodrant that contains "Aluminium chloride hexahydrate Ph. Eur. 20% w/w" you apply it at night, when the sweat glands are at their most inactive, just befor eyou go to bed, and ive so far been impressed, pretty minimal sweating, sometimes none (i havent noticed any patterns as to why i sometimes sweat more). however, if i shower in the middle of the day, apply it then, and head out, i still sweat a little bit, sometimes through to the second shirt, but a well developed routine can fix that. hope that helps guys, im glad to know im not the only one who walks around with his armpits closed tight so no one can see stains :(
