So my other topic made me think to ask this.

I sweat a lot from my armpits. It's mostly because I have a high metabolism, i eat a lot, and I'm very high strung. At work I stuff my pits with paper towels (especially before a presentation). It really sucks and it's really annoying/embarassing.

So has anyone conquered this problem? I've tried Certain Dri but it didn't do much good. My doctor checked my thyroid levels (normal) and perscribed Drysol, but it didn't do that much good, either. I've read a few reviews online for something called Maxim, but it's $14 per stick so I'm hesitant to order it unless someone else will recommend it.

I don't want to get surgery (yet). Anyone have any ideas?

    Eh?
I don't have a perspiration problem. However, I notice that caffeinated drinks seem to make me perspire more than normal, as well as wearing clothing that fits too tightly or generally fits badly.

Well I don't know if this will help, but I knew someone that had a problem with perspiring a lot and noticed that once he started taking in more citric juices he was perspiring less. But he said it took a month or two before he really noticed it. You could try it...don't know how much truth is behind it though. Throwing it out there for you though.

I used to have this problem, and my doctor perscribed Drysol. It worked well for me. I've also heard about citrus juices helping with this. :)

I have a relative who uses spray-on antiperspirant designed for feet to stop his sweating. There are a couple different active ingredients that manufacturers use to make antiperspirants (Maxim is just a LOT of aluminum chloride). I'd play around with each one (and maybe different application types) before doing anything drastic like surgery.

I imagine a thin sponge around and arm band or even just an extra undershirt would be more comfortable than paper towels.

Drysol, MAXIM etc. work pretty good, just make sure you dont overuse them or your pits will become irritated.

your body usually works like this:

    energy input = energy output

    or consumption = deconsumption ...

what you put in eventually comes out in one form or another :bigthumb:

Yeah. But I don't plan on eating less anytime soon, and I don't think I can do anything about being high strug (drugs?).

Shaving your armpits should reduce odor and sweat transpiration. You just have to do it regulary like once every 3 weeks.

How does shaving your pits cause you to sweat less? If anything I'd think it would reduce the resistance to sweating.

It reduces odor, but i find that it makes persperation worse, when i sweat my arm pit feels like it never dries, im not sure if having hair there helps with drying or not, but it seems to be that way. Also when you do sweat and have no pit hair, any sweat will run down your side, i dunno i found it made the situation worse.

Have you tried a plain old stick of Mitchum? I'm one of those people who needs his antiperspirant but I can't even use it because it leaves me dryer than a witch's titty.

    I'm not overweight at all.

Mitchum didn't work any better for me than Degree... but it made me smell bad. I never have BO unless I wear Mitchum. It's weird.

I knew a guy with the same problem (though his hands and feet would sweat alot too) and he got shots of botox. He gets shots in his hands, feet and under his arms every six months. He says it works really well- maybe check into that?

Well it sounds like your excessive sweating might be a result of anxiety or general nervousness -- you said it is especially bad before you give a presentation, so maybe its an anxiety problem? :dunno:

I shaved my armpits because i had the same problem. It made it a hell of a lot better, but doesn't completely fix it.

I don't really get that anxious before a presentation, I just meant it was especially embarassing during a presentation so I stuff my pits with paper towels before speaking in front of people, but yeah, I'm sure the anxiety doesn't help anything.

I did not read all the replies, so I am sorry if someone already said something similar.

Did you use certain dri correctly? You put it on nightly before bed? There's a similar product called Drysol that's available by perscription only that might help you. One of my girlfriends uses it and says it helps her.

I swear A LOT from my armpits.

I wear underarmor under my t-shirts, which keeps the sweat from seeping through to my shirt. That works pretty well, unless it just gets really hot or something.
