So I went with my wife to look at the EVO yesterday. They had a white MR there and I have to say it was a lot nicer than I had thought. The EVO looks sick in white although I want a STi in black. I still like the interior of the STi better though still. It comes with climate control, outside temp gauges and an overall better dash (IMO). The seats in the MR seem to have better lateral support though. I think I am still leaning toward an STi.

Believe it or not I was thinking about an M3. But for twice the price I could not justify the competitiveness in performance. That and I can fit a baby seat in the STi/MR easier ;)

    and wider tires.

I'm a bit bias is this servey, considering I've already put some cash down for an 06 STi. :o

i've driven both, and i lean towards subaru anyway (had a wrx and came close to a STi). I just don't like the build quality of mitsu in general and for something that's probably going to be driven hard occasionally, i want reliability.

With that being said, i would look at the new GTO or if you have some extra cash, the CTS-V. I'm by no means a GM sackrider, but those two cars impress the hell out of me.

evo handles better but i dont like the interior, kind of cheap. sti has better interior and good tq #'s. my room mate has an sti, and friend has an evo mr. evo was able to make 400 whp with stock turbo... the sti was not.... its really a tossup, whether u want to buy a subaru or a mitsu

    in a nutshell:

buy the evo if you plan on racing up pike's peak a few times a year.
buy the STi if this is going to be a daily driver

I think it comes down to personality since the performance of the two is not THAT different.

the only real difference to me was ride quality. the evo felt like i was riding in a stagecoach, the sti feels more like a model t

yeah I am an ex DSM'er way back. 4G63 is a solid powerplant its the rest of the car that has the problem.

As for the CTS-V. I went and looked at one of those. They need to do some work on the dash. Its way too american car'ish for me. If I was going to get one of those I would get a C6, but no back seat. :wtc:

interesting analogy, not that I expect either to be that comfortable. I will say that the sti looks more refined from the outside. I've only sat in an evo at a car show, but the interior didn't seem that bad.

I just think as someone in their early 20's I prefer the aggressive look of the evo.

The MR is 36 and the STi is 32K (approx). I can get the STi for a buck over invoice too making it 31. Price is not really the issue at this point. I just want the car that will make me happiest as a daily driver.

yeah, i probably like the front of the evo better, but the rest of the sti makes up for it (plus the interior is better).

Although the EVO IX front end is pretty sick. Much more FMIC friendly. They changed the color as well of the seats. I think the STi still takes it though.
