evh's log - goal: increase mass

    going to be trying bill starr's routine. it's basically m/w/f split with the routine being squat,bench,bb row/squat,military or incline,deadlift/squat,bench,bb row respectively.

    diet is going to be half clean/half dirty. I'm 18 years old and it's winter, if I gain a little bit of fat, so be it. I want to make sure I'm in a caloric excess til I can figure out my own body's caloric needs.

    starting the routine tomorrow.

    starting stats:
    18 years old/5' 9"/154lbs

    to be completely honest, the best approach for picking up girls at the gym is to go in being very casual and matter-of-fact. women are there, for the most part, to just work out. they don't really want to be bothered by men there. It's a little different if you have something to talk about, though. If you were on the cardio machine next to a hot bitch, and some breaking news came on the TV's... well then, there ya go.

    if you have balls and want to approach anyone, i'd say do this:
    "hey, you're doing that <exercise> wrong. you could really injure your body doing that."

    "oh. really? how am i supposed to do it?"
    (like 99% of girls will say this because most of them don't know how or what to work out, and want a man in shape to train them. trust me on that.)

    get a little touchy feely with them at this point... guide their arm or whatever and show them the "proper" way :mamoru:... while demonstrating, make some casual flirty (BUT NOT HITTING ON) chat...
    "i've never seen you here before... doesn't look like you go to the gym much."

    "OMG *flirty "hit" on the shoulder* DID YOU JUST CALL ME FATTT??"
    "what?? hahahah nooo, you are doing this <exercise> wrong, aren't you?"

    "ohhh hahahaha lolz1!! yeahhhh"

    "well, like i said, doesn't look like you go to the gym much."
    if she starts qualifying herself to you, and saying "nooo but i do. i go on this day, this day, this day, and this day. i do cardio...... blah blah blah" then take that as a great sign that you're on the right track. she's interested.

    At this point, you should know what to do if you have any game whatsoever. You can ask her what her name is at this point, if SHE hasn't already asked you what yours is. If she has asked you what yours is, take that as a nice sign of interest.

    me personally, i'm so full of shit when i flirt with girls... i'm saying for example, if i asked what her name was and she said "jennifer", i'd probably say well i'm evh, nice to meet you... it's actually funny your name is jennifer because my ex gf is named jennifer and when i'd go to the gym with her, she'd wear these *point to an article of clothing of hers, make sure u make physical contact* same exact hysterical wife-beaters.

    because you're a skinny little thing *look girl up and down whilst her watching you do this. very confident and self-secure*, and you're wearing a muscle shirt :rofl:

    i think you get the idea. by the way, you have to have skills in how to control your body language, keep your cool, stay confident, and act normal.

    i've picked up the girls at the front desks before. gotten a couple numbers. the trick with them is to be cocky and funny, while not taking yourself too seriously (if you are jacked and have a nice body). majority of the faggots that come up to the desk to hit on the girls are the ones that are extremely jacked up and think that they're god's gift to women because of it. remember, the girls see huge fucks all day long. the girls behind the desk like the change up of an actually charming guy that's "manly" and not a wussy, and has the balls and confidence to talk to them and be cocky+funny at the same time.

    i absolutely hated bill star routine for gaining mass. while others may recommend it, i definetly do NOT recommend it.

    edit: all that routine gave me was sore joints. i made the best strength gains training each body part once a week and training 4 times a week total.

    I made the best strength gains while on Bill Starr. Kind of boring, but still worked well.

    Edit: Mine was Christopher's Modified Starr Routine, whatever that was.

    I absolutely love my 4 day routine, I've been doing the split for over a year now but I don't ever want to give it up. :hs:

    i burned out on 5-6 days a week. 4 days seems to be the sweet spot for natty ectos. my endomorph natty bud does roughly 5 days a week np and hes getting pretty strong.

    one of my other buds that im currently lifting with puts together random ass routines but im growing on them so fuck it.

    i like bill starr, i just started on it 2 weeks ago. it's normally my once a year winter bulk routine. contrary to abomb, i actually feel it's WAY lighter on my joints. you're essentially going light for 12 sets and just maxing out on 3 sets per session. i've had a bum left shoulder for the past 3 months which is finally starting to heal while doing bill starr.

    Ate a lot today.Had a ton of carbs. I don't remember exactly what I ate today, but i'll try to recall:

    -4 oz egg white/1 whole egg/ham, spinach, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, black olives/cheddar cheese
    -bowl of oatmeal w/ raisins, some brown sugar
    -12oz skim milk

    -2 slice whole wheat bread
    -quarter pound roast beef
    -2 slices tomato
    -1 tbsp mayo

    -4 oz roastbeef
    -4 small oatmeal raisin cookies
    -4 small brownie wedges
    -16 oz skim milk
    -4 oz pasta w/marinara sauce

    -4 oz grilled chicken
    -large order french fries
    -16 oz skim milk
    -3 small choc. chip cookies

    train

    -1 scoop ON
    -2.5 TBSP flax seed

    will prob have another protein/flax shake in a while.

    the training was pretty awesome. i wasn't too tired at the end, but i felt like i had just had the perfect workout. and not to mention i feel like my whole body got worked out. really, really tight feeling everywhere.

    i'm not bloated from all the carbs either. odd. i also haven't really taken in any carbs post workout, which i've been doing recently. for some reason i feel i get leaner gains with it. could be broscience.

    looks good dude. I loved that feeling of being totally worked from head to toe when I tried the modified bill starr routine.

    -taco bell taco salad express (its without a shell, comes served in a plastic container. it's lots of lettuce, some cheese, ground beef, added grilled chicken, refried beans, tomatoes, and a little ranch dressing)

    -1 scoop ON w/ 2.5 flax

    tried it, concluded it's not for me.


    just had:
    -bag of cooler ranch doriots (49.6g)
    -bag of cheetos cheddar jalapeno crunchy (56.7g)
    -bag of lays kettle cooked mesquite bbq (38.9g)
    -m+ms peanut (49.3g)

    goin back to the vending machine for one more item. not training tomorrow, plus i'm pretty sore and tired, plus a light eating day tomorrow = bingeing now. i'll also have another protein shake soon, to try and balance out the other macros.

    and now 1 cup of corn flakes
    and then 2 scoop ON w/1 tbsp flax

    damn that was a fuckin meal and a half.

    i don't think so, this is from a college "express" taco bell.

    i know, i went overboard today but it's just one day. i'll be sleeping until about 12-12:30 tomorrow, so these calories i just ate should last me. also, since i'm not lifting tomorrow i will be eating a little lighter. all in all though, i want to make sure i'm in a caloric excess. obviously i don't eat this much crap before bed everyday, but it's fine.

    I think the military press will work your shoulder a lot more once you do them standing (bring bar down to touching shoulder each rep)

    All the research points to 2x a week being superior to 1x a week, for both strength and hypertrophy.
