but I havent ever met someone who was shot with one and lived!!!!
Makes ya think!
thats because either
a) they are not in the US (SE asia, middle east)
b) When you get shot with one, you tend to get shot with alot.
I also haven't met someone who has taken a .308 and lived....
5.56's thing is velocity, then tumbling. shot placement counts with those rounds.
ive been there and never heard a story
My dads knows a few ppl shot with 308 that lives.. Clean hole in and out and usually seals itself from heat
its all irrelevant to us civillians, military is not allowed to use hollowpoint ammo
nobody said hollowpoint..
besides most civilians are shot with the 9mm round.
And repetition of shots.
Wanna be on my end of the world team?
Sure why not
I've never met anyone who was shot with a .22 and lived therefor the .22 is a great defensive round?
The 5.56 is an overglorified .22 magnum.
My reasoning in my ammo and gun selection is I want the biggest hole I can put in someone, while maintaining a decent gun to weight ratio.
Hence, I'd much rather have a 7.62 over a 5.56
More like AK47 FTW.
My AK and my FNP .40 are sitting in my closet, ready to go. Never know when the zombies are gonna come.
fixed that for you
I don't like the M14... (just a personal preference, no particular reason) and I like the fal, but it's a bit big and bulky, even in SBR form....
Out of curiosity what ammo do you keep in your ak? Most 5.56 rounds are going to make a bigger wound than the cheap steel cased russian imported stuff that most people shoot from their ak.
Why the fuck isn't the FNP in a holster on your belt "ready to go?"
I'm sealing these away deep in my vault of knowledge.
I keep my mags loaded with 125gr FMJ Silver Bear with the Nickel-plated cases. I am not a huge fan of wolf ammunition but as long as it goes boom its fine in my book. I don't expect tight groups with an ak47, I expect it to fire every time I pull the trigger no matter what.
I'm not talking about grouping, alot of the cheap 7.62x39 rounds don't tumble very early in tissue and are going to leave a much smaller wound than they're capable of doing. If you think you really might want it for defense, you might consider picking enough Winchester 123 gr jsp's to fill a mag or two and at least get the largest wound you can and less chance of excess penetration. I believe there's also a v-max load out now that seems to be promising also http://www.tacticalforums.com/cgi-bin/tacticalubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=78;t=001359 has some related gel tests. For a couple extra bucks you can make a bigger hole and have less chance of shooting through more than you intended to.
for a defense round out of an AK, I would go with either HPs (apparently the wolf ones are actually pretty decent), or the wolf 154 JSP, which apparently are quite good. (act like 160 30-30 JSPs, IIRC)
What what what??! Since when do bullets cauterize the wound channel??
