so basically you lose your internal dvd drive and replace it with a hard drive?

except they also have bus powered usb / firewire external cases for your super drive to fit into.

That is what external hds are for....

I'd miss my superdrive too much :wtc:

but it's cool they give you an enclosure to put the superdrive in it

Why do you need to setup a partition to separate photography stuff and your documents, music, vides and stuff....

Isn't that what folders are for :hsugh:

The main advantage to this is not the extra space, but the fact it is RAID 0.

Good point, I carry two batteries now at all times, which really only gives me about 4 hours at this point if I'm using wireless and a readable display brightness level.

Does anyone make a higher capacity battery? Maybe one that would be thin and covers the entire underside of the laptop? I would love to get 4 hours out of a single charge.

Apple should make them like that with two hd's. Anyways I got two external usb powered 80 gb 5400 rpm drives in raid0:

i don't get it, would having 5400rpm drives + being connected by usb, be slower than the internal sata150 drive that macbooks have?

    cool case btw

There has to be a way to do it without losing your dvd drive....

I mean shit, the guts of the macbook are the size of a fucking cd case. there has to be somewhere you can squeeze a 2.5" drive in there.

not necessarily, but RAID 0 is definitely a waste in that (and most) configurations.

Macbook c2d's motherboard is the size of a cd case. most of the room is taken up by the battery and opical drive, but I am sure you can squeeze another 2.5" drive in there somewhere with a little creativity. maybe modify the existing hd tray t fit two stacked
