Looking for critique on these pics. They were taken in full auto mode, before I started playing with advanced features.

I was just playing around with them in Lightroom and no matter what I do I can't seem to make them look any better than they already do. I know they have a little too much black on the bottom-- they aren't cropped. Any tips are appreciated. I'm more interested in the pre-snap settings or post production tips.

How do post production results vary between JPG editing and RAW editing?

Horizon is too centered and theres too much blackspace on the bottom. 2nd one would be better if you cropped it.

I figured about the black space. But what about the rest? What kind of PP would make it better? I was playing with it in Lightroom and couldn't get it to look any better.

Could it be cause it's a JPG? If I had the same pic in RAW would I be able get more out of it in PP?
