H&R coilovers have been in the car for two weeks.

    I love them.

Except - I bottom out once or twice a day. Sometimes hard. I am concerned about blowing my shock towers since I drive on D.C.'s shitty streets every day.

Should I cut the bumpstops? They were not cut when the coilovers were installed.

    Any advice appreciated. :bigok:

The rears use the stock bumpstops.

Why not increase ride-height, wouldn't that help with your situation?

if they are true coilovers, jack them up until they dont bottom out anymore- function before fashion. On the sport kit- i.e. new struts and springs, you are suppose to cut the bumpstop 1/2 of what the drop is.

    Temp fix:

Drop the ride height to give the springs more play. They were coilbinding.

I now have just a fraction over 12" of ride height measured from the center of the front wheel to the fender lip. The front end has about 3 inches of clearance :o

:werd: I wouldn't be able to leave my driveway with 3" of clearance.

    Cut your bumpstops.

Dont cut more then 2 ridges off, but youre ok with 1 or 1.5.

Bumpstops are meant for a full travel with stock struts and springs. You dont have that. You're not even close.

Everytime you hit a bump, you're nailing the bumpstops. Youre gonna kill your back that way.

It's the coils. They are binding. Not the stops. (I checked)
