what do you guys think? when do you result to deadly force?

if someone comes up to you demanding something you aren't willing to surrender, what will you do before you draw?

Just remember, whether citizen or peace officer, you don't have to ratchet from 1 to 2 to 3 and so on. This one is an okay list, many policies in police work break down the OC/CS, Baton, Taser, etc stuff as discrete and separate levels of force, sometimes lower than going hands-on even, in the case of OC or Taser, but that depends on the agency.

My point was, people often list it as "escalation list" or a "continuum" or somesuch. Maybe true, but you don't have to start at 1 and work your way up.
Jump straight to the step right above the other guy. If he's at 5, go to 6 without messing around below that. Of course, no matter who you are, it's a good idea to try and say something first, even if you say it while you're going into action.

    Just my input, FWIW.

    exactly.

    Why so :ugh: ?

That's the extent to which you should talk to the police if you ever have to defend yourself.

If a cop said to me "do you realize you kicked that guy through a brick wall" or "man, you shot him eleven times- I didn't know your Glock held 15 rounds" or something, you just as for your lawyer and otherwise shut up.

I feared for my life and acted in self defense. Then you shut your mouth and hire an attorney. Hopefully you've got tens of thousands of dollars sitting around for your legal defense fees.
