Everytime I restart my computer an error message pops up that says "There are duplicate names on the network." What is that all about?

Do you have more than one computer? If so, do they by chance have the same name?

I personally don't have more than one computer. If you mean do I have the same copy of XP installed on two different computers, then the answer is yes. However the other computer is under my fathers name, not mine. Any ideas, this just now started happening after I installed SP2 about a week ago, thoughts?

for any computer on the network, each computer must have a different name. just double check to make sure it's differnet.
control pannel, system, computer name, change -> where is said computer name, thats where you give it a unique name.

if that isnt the case.. not too sure then
