i bought some speakers for my ibook when i got my LCD diplay ( so i could put my laptop hidden under the desk and still have sound )

anyways, i got some bose speakers and they dont have any nobs for bass / treble, and the bass is freaking REALLY high, it's driving me nuts, everytime i play a song i have to turn them down :[

    iTunes has an EQ.

Why did you buy Bose speakers anyway?

Did you get the $250 2 speaker/1 sub set? I was trying out a bunch at the store and those Bose were by far the best. I'm getting a set myself.

Yes, I am saying you pay WAY too much for Bose speakers. And if you think that the bose speakers sounded the best, you were either A, mislead by a biased store demonstration, or B, did not listen to very many other sets.

Bose are some of the best sounding speakers around. I agree that there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good if not better but Bose makes quality products. for you to think they don't shows just how tone deaf you are.

I own a variety of speakers/stereo equipment spanning a wide price range.

In my better stereo setup I have Proac Response 2.5's (which have been upgraded) which retailed at about $4500 when they were made. In one of my computer set ups I have Klipsch Promedia 2.1's, which will destroy any bose computer set up for about $179.

I have many speaker systems that fall between these two prices, including a computer recording/mastering set up which incorporates studio monitors that no Bose speaker could ever touch. So do believe me when I say I am not tone deaf, and I have listened to my fair share of speakers.

I've had Boston Acoustic's on my old PC and Harmon Kardon soundstick II's on my Mac now. Both sound incredible for the prices I had paid for them.

I even have some Boston Acoustic RE910 Components in my car and it's amazing. There are a lot out there compartible to Bose for cheaper.

I have the same speakers for my system setup, I love them. But you can't sit here and tell me that a bose setup isn't worth the money. Granted, there are comparable systems out there for less, but if Bose made a full sized system, it would be hard to compete with.

Studio monitors are totally separate from computer speakers/home theater setups. Studio monitors have an automatic flat eq so that you are hearing everything as it actually is. Most speakers other than studio speakers have an eq to them from the start, so bringing those up don't mean anything and cannot be compared to the speakers that are being talked about. Plus, they're generally more than computer speakers and many home theater systems.

    Yes, I can.

And iTunes has an EQ, try the 'Bass Reducer' setting.

If you had read my entire post you would have noted that I compared bose speakers to my other COMPUTER and HOME speakers as well. Also, if you knew the first thing about audio you'd know there is nothing wrong with using studio monitors as home speakers, in fact, it can often be the best choice...

If that does not prove to you that Bose products are the biggest rip off in consumer electronics, your post proves that you can not read.

True, one website won't prove the world. But it does prove what you're getting when you go bose. The thing is, my "opinions" are actually facts, and your knowledge of audio equipment that you have to base your misinformed opinions on is EXTREMELY limited.

    Eh, not my money.
