Finally enlisted into the Army today . Going Airborne Infantry

Had a hard time getting airborne but I ended up finally getting a slot the day after the counselor said to me there were no more slots opened up let alone the fact that he wouldn't even give me Infantry . It's Been a life long dream to be a soldier and its now becoming a reality so I can't complain .

    Shipping April 3rd for Ft.Benning

Congratulations, your life will never be the same again. Dont hate life to bad when your "welcomed to the Army" at 30th AG. Dont expect to sleep at all the first night your there. Remember, by far the most miserable part of Basic Training is reception at Benning. Things get better when you go to your actual Basic Training Unit. Its the most fun youll never want to do again.

Enjoy Az for AIT. Hopefully they've gone through the DSs that were there when i was. They were some assholes, that Co was always doing some BS. I know my course has starting getting rid of DSs, I would assume the other MOSs there are doing the same.

No he said that I didnt have Infantry available to me . I told him too look at my scores I had a 60 on my Asvab and a 111 on my GT . Told him he was full of crap and walked out . He finally got me an Infantry slot but wouldnt give me airborne with it so I didnt sign that day . Went and talked with my recruiters the next day and sure enough there was a airborne option open to me so we went ahead and reserved it

I can't wait to do this I know I'm going to have my moments where I'm like why the hell am I doing this but I know I will look back at it saying it was the best thing I ever did

Yeah, 30th is going to seriously fuck with your head. There's a strong chance you'll get sick during the first few days, so expect it. Going to Sand Hill was my best experience in the Army. Enjoy it.

    OUTSTANDING! :bigok:

That is a perfect example of how to handle your recruiter.

Definitely. You will hate many things over the next few weeks, and you will surely hate life for a while, but this will be something that you will brag about for the rest of your life. Just remember: your Drill SGT may enjoy smoking the dogshit out of you, but every single time he does it it's YOU that will benefit the most.

Good luck - and congratulations! :wavey:

God 30th AG was so fucking gay. They woke us up at around 3 every day for the first week I was stuck there. And then there are the hour and a half chow lines....

It's pretty crazy to think that just this past July I began basic and now I'm over here in Iraq.

What MOS? I wanted 35M but that didn't happen, I wanted that or UAV pilot more than anything. 35H was on my wish list though

35T (33W) here. Those guys were the CGS folks and imagery analyst in one company but they still went to their separate schools.

Ft. Benning is awesome. When I went through in 2004, 30th AG sucked ass, and I bet it still does. Memorize the Soldiers Creed IMMIEDETELY. Shit, start now. The sooner you know it, the better off you will be.

You are going to interact with some terribly shitty people on a regular basis, but do not let them drag you down. Do your thing and do not get pulled into the drama.

Once you leave Benning, other people notice your mentality compared to those who went anywhere else. It is something to be proud of...

Oh yeah my recruiters have already got me memorizing all of that now . Fucking sore as shit I got to find out what Iron Mikes are this morning for the full length of a football field . My recruiter is pretty cool tho since he's Infantry he has been a big help to me . Anyways thanks for the tips guys

My brother in law is already giving me crap since he's an E-8 at Carson so I know I'll have to deal with him. I know I'm going to be saying there are 2 types of jobs in the Army " Infantry and those that support the Infantry " when I get done with everything

Yup have to agree with everyone that 30th AG sucks. I think i wanted to quit right there because I was so bored and thought the place was pointless. Not to mention wearing Black Goretex boots in July was beating the crap out of my feet lol. I thought they were burning. Certainly in hindsight it wasn't hard but it still sucks :)

Have fun in Airborne once you get there. Pretty easy and fun for the first 5 jumps...lol
