Engineering Design Project: Sound Amplification. (EE's and Audiophiles help!)

    since this is home audio, i might as well post this here:

    I'm taking a class on engineering design, and i opted to create something that amplified the sound from an alarm clock 5-10 dB. I've been searching the interwebs for pre-fabricated amplifiers, something small (like a 4-transistor amplifier), since i only have 2 weeks to build the thing, and write a technical memo on the item.

    halp? anyone know where to find simple pre-fabbed simple amplifiers? I'm not looking for something with jacks, but i'll make do if i have to.

    Or if you don't want to use the amplifier when you're done, just get a cheap headphone amplifier (which will also be a chip amp).
