Thomas Distributing is having a sale on Eneloop batteries and they have quantity discounts. I just picked up 5 packs of Eneloop AA's for $8.57 each! :eek3:

That worked out to about $43 for 5 packs which is less than Beards & Hats charges for 3 packs.

Sale ends 7/31, so get on it!

I've been waiting for an excuse to buy some Eneloops. Now I just need a good charger to go with. Any suggestions?

Costco has 6x AA's and 2 AAA's for $19. slightly more expensive, but still a good deal.

+ membership fee for those that don't have it = MUCH more expensive. :hs:

I hate Costco's huge packs of food, but the savings for gas, junk food, drinks, and eye glasses alone far exceeds the membership fee.

We only have Sam's Club here, no Costco.

On a side note, Costco had Sandisk Ultra II 4GB CF cards for $39.95. That also seemed like a decent price. (I think they were Ultra II. They might have been Extreme III)

$40/yr through my office, i believe. we only go there maybe 5 times a year, and we easily make up that $40 in one shot, i think.

don't you know someone with a membership?

I do, but he lives in Chicago. :mamoru:

I've thought about getting a membership myself though, but my post was mostly to point out not everyone has access to a Costco, but ordering from Thomas Distributing is easy enough for anyone. :hs:

MUCH better. First, they come pre-charged so just open the package and shoot with no waiting. Second, they don't lose their charge over time nearly as fast as normal rechargables.

That's the whole reason I switched to them, because I got damn sick of tossing what I thought was a charged set of batteries into my flash only to be greeted with a low battery indicator. :madfawk:

One thing you need to be sure of though is that your charger is compatible with them. Some rapid chargers can destroy the Eneloops because they are a different type of battery than the regular rechargables that you get at a store. No biggie for me because I wanted an 8 cell charger that could recondition batteries anyway.

mine is kinda old school (like 2 or 3 years old) energizer, say it is a 6 hour charge, so I should be good right? Ill order a new charger eventually, but something to just get me started

I couldn't tell you if it will work or not. You might want to call Thomas Distributing and ask about it. It would suck to buy the batteries and then ruin them because you skimp on the charger.

Does the 8 Cell charger have all the bells and whistles that the other 4 cell one has? Like refresh mode, and showing the mAh and all that jazz?

Also I've heard that you should keep your batteries in groups for your flashes, because it's better for your batteries to be charged/discharged in groups. Does that make sense? Like charge group A all at once, then charge group B... Would having an 8 cell charger be any "worse" than just having a 4 cell?

Trying to make up my mind on what to buy.
