I probably shouldn't put this here, but I figure the Mac crew would give me better answers.

Lately I've been ripping my DVDs and encoding them for iPod and future TV use. I've been using Handbrake to do the encoding and I've been happy with the results so far. I've been using the default Apple TV and iPod High Res settings depending on what I want to encode for.

I just found out about the Western Digital TV HD Player. Looks bad ass. After reading some info and reading about MKV packages, etc. I'm wondering if I'm using the best possible encoding settings.

Is anyone else ripping DVDs and encoding them for a media center? I'd like to learn more about MKVs and what the best encoding settings are for the best possible rip. Any info would help. Thanks.
