I've been going to the gym for a while now, and although gaining on my upper body I've cut out my leg workouts completely after a sports injury.

Somehow I've not been able to work them back into my schedule and frankly I'm having trouble getting rolling on them again.

The REALLY embarassing part is that I haven't done deadlifts/squats/stuff like that in over a year. It's all been on machines for more control, lest I re-injure myself.

    Pity replies? Suggestions? Confidence boosters?:noes:

    Football.

Guy caught me from behind, and landed on my foot. Big toe bent back and tore the joint capsule (something like that) in it. Extremely painful, and I couldn't walk, so they put me in a boot for 4 months.

its when you pick up dead puppies and throw them up in the air. your strength is judged by the amount of airtime the corpse gets

    pretty terrible aren't I? :(

i've had a good opportunity to get back into the gym (refer to location) although alot of the food here is very very greasy. its difficult monitoring protein intake because its cheaper and easier to eat out. i might start buying packages of eggs and frying em up in the kitchen upstairs for a protein boost.

either way, good to see you too timberwolf, and thanks for noticing :o

We have a dead puppy shortage at our gym. If I use a live one for the first rep, is it gonna hurt my progress at all?

    Foot injury's the only thing.

Legs are pretty weak, and I can't remember how much my toe flexed on deadlifts before. Sometimes it's fine, yet I still get pain if it's flexed a certain way. The Doc says eventually it'll go away as it is muscles reverting back to their original size, but I still wanna be careful.

Do you know how many times I've injured my lower body? Let's see...several fractured toes, severe high ankle sprain (football, I was blocking and the back got tackled right into my ankle, which rolled and then about 6 people piled on it, that was lots of fun), several hamstring pulls (in both legs, although the right was a lot worse) , a couple of groin pulls, knee tendonitis, etc.

Sure it sucks but just let it heal or rehab it then get your ass back in the gym and start back light and work your way back to where you were before.

As Arnold would say, STOP WHINING!

When you start doing legs remember to start off with very low volume and don't go near failure...or else you'll have difficulty walking for a week.

Yeah check your ego at the door and remember that if you go balls-out with the weights you're just gonna hurt yourself and be out that much longer.

It really blows but it's worth it.

if the doc clears you, go for it. sounds like you might be being abit too cautious, but in your position i don't blame you. get back in there doing light squats and see how your balance is nukka.

  22. didn't you JUST start working out your legs and doing deadlifts? :hsugh:

Some of you guys really need to get off the bandwagon. The only guys in here that gave reasonable responses were the ones that have the stats to back up any flak yet they were cool.

Don't throw rocks when you live in a glass house with spaghetti legs.
