I want to start sending order confirmation emails in house. Currently we use a provider that put something together using Lyris.

Who has some knowledge they want to share. :kdubb:

so basically it will work kind of like a double opt-in

i know this can be done with SPI Shopping cart and probably a few other shopping carts but ive never really used an email campaign program to run a query on your shopping cart database then send out some sort of confirmation email hmm.

    what cart are you using?

No cart. These are 'thanks for signing up' emails for leads that are pushed to me from affiliate marketers.

HTML, can be plain text though.

email contains a cancel link, worded as 'signup confirmation'

What the fuck do I need to do to get through? SPFs? FBLs? These will be one time mailings ONLY.

I have a few dozen products on affiliate networks. When I am pushed signups, I need to send an email to them confirming the order.

If I mail using a script.. I'll get gray listed @ yahoo (mail delayed for days, if it ever goes through)

MSN/hotmail will reject all mail as invalid user, etc.

It works for a few minutes, then it's like I'm getting throttled...

The only way I've gotten my order confirms through is by using a company that does professional email list management. They use Lyris List Manager.

I am not maintaining lists, re-emailing these people ever again, etc.

I need to send about 50-100,000 emails a day and then process all 'undeliverables' and bad leads to perform chargebacks to the affiliates.

I am getting absolutely crushed by email costs from the current solution.

I picked up a few dedicated servers today and Im going to see what Lyris is about... but I have no clue when it comes to SPFs, FBLs, etc. Need someone to hold my hand on this shit. :o

alright so basically for the "confirms" you want to start looking for double opt ins options.

Lyris should has one as i've seen there websites states something about this.

    http://www.lyrishq.com/index.php/Email-Marketing/Email-Fashion-Double-Opt-In-is-The-New-Black.html

For bad emails just export your bouceback reports and remove them from your excel/database.

EDIT: I think i found it.

    or possibly

    check out their documentation.

What about for the actual configuration of the webserver. This is what I know so far.

Must setup reverse dns, SPF records, make sure IPs/hostnames are not on XBL/SBL spamhaus lists.

What else is needed? What about setting up feedback loops with the major ISPs?
