I use Yahoo mail and Hotmail, if i just open an email, could my pc get infected with a virus?

I know that big sized emails from strangers are obviously viruses, i dont open any emails from dodgy names, nor do i open emails that are bigger than around 50kb.

So, am i safe to view emails that have big sizes (130kb is average i get).

    Thanks :wiggle:

    no
web based email should not be able to give you a any viruses, it is neat when you see one sitting there as an attachement though

Ok thanks, just wanted to make sure.

Cause i heard about that 'i love you' virus a couple of years back, apparently all you had to do was open it and it would start off.

Must have been through outlook or something.

Yea, many e-mail viruses are Outlook-based, reason being that Outlook is interconnected with all the other MS programs, making it easy to get a virus in through.
