i'm looking to buy an elliptical machine but i'm not sure on what to get. i went to a fitness equipment store called nellie's. they had proteus and sportsart in stock. they told me they can get any brand that i wanted. they have a light commercial proteus (proteus eec-7088) for $1199, but i haven't heard of that brand. the lowest priced sportsart was the 803p, going for $1799.

would anyone advise getting a lower priced model (below $1000) or do i need to spend quite a bit on this?

Spend as much as you can afford. A good elliptical is not cheap nor is it something you should skimp on if you plan on having it for a long time.

ya You can't compare it to anything else out there. The Frame is awsome, the work outs are all good and it's somthing that will go the distance. My GYM has 16 of them. My Gym is considered a upscale type of place, witch is nice. Except Fees LOL

i really don't want to spend over $2k. the proteus they had is light commercial for $1k. it comes with 1 year labor and 3 year parts.

i know precor is the best but i don't want to pay that much for one. i'm sure there are brands that are good enough.
