I heard about this over the weekend, and they mentioned it just now on the SDS. Anyone have any press links or more info?

That was the other one, I forgot which when I made the post.

And they just changed regulation in Hawaii, so the rules are possibly already changing regardless of the purchase.

Isnt going to come in affect until like mid 09. And I think they said the rules would stay the same

KOTC has a large pool of fighters, and they still employ lots of solid fighters

"One of the biggest fight libraries ever" and imo, the best minor league promotion to build up their top level shows.

Yeah, before they got into the big shows... which is why I called it the minor leagues.

larger companies acquire smaller companies all the time, and not just for their products

you don't have to be on PRIDE's caliber to be worth the purchase

well im just saying i doubt this deal is even worthwhile for them...KOTC is as dead as it's ever been..this is hardly going to make any impact on the MMA landscape

never heard of buy low sell high? :mamoru:

Zuffa thinks its ok to let top level talent go since the landscape of MMA orgs is sop spread out. All of the snd tier orgs want to be able to compete against the UFC (even thought he UFC boasts that they can all survive, but not compete), so how will that happen? By buying up all the other smaller orgs and concentrating all of the best talent and then letting the rest go. With that being said I think the smarter money would have been to sign every Pride star that is not in contract with Zuffa.

youtube never turned a profit, but google bought them out for $1.6b

there are companies that buy other failing companies just to restructure them. as far as acquisitions, when you buy the company, you're also buying its clientelle

and KOTC with a bigger budget = higher paid fighters = better fighters

    generally speaking, of course
