im hoping this is the right section to post this... it just seems to be a lot of photography related threads here... anyways..

    just a question...
I went to see these Egyptian Art.. sculptures, statues, and so on.. from the Ancient Egyptian times... and i noticed that 95% of the sculptures are missing their noses.... sometimes its just the tip of the noses... but mostly, its the whole nose that's missing

    does anyone know why?

just wear and tear i think, most probably from them falling over and nocking it off, its probably the weakest point of the sculpture in terms of thickness.

yeah wear and tear, the nose because it sticks directly out is subject to moisture changes, and winds + sand, so it tends to fall off first.
