So I had my car washed and waxed today, and after looking it over after everything was done, I noticed a spot on my rear hatch that looks like spider cracks/ripples from some sort of impact. I asked the detailer what's it was from and he said most likey an egg.

I am totally baffled by this. I don't ever remember my car getting egged, nor ever hearing about this before.

He tried several different things and said my only real option is to have it sanded and painted.

    This true?

What happens is the egg shells cut into the paint, usually down through the clear coat and base coat and into the primer. No detailing solution to this one, sorry.

    Son of a bitch...

Thanks... good I guess it's on the hatch and not the door or something. Wonder how much to have the pearl matched and painted...

That sucks! :squint: I wish people could just leave other people's stuff alone. Sorry to hear about that, Dataspike.

    Get it repainted.

Remove emblems, remove trim, sand damge, prime, basecoat, pearlcoat, clearcoat, apply new emblems and reassemble trim. $700.

Yeah, even if you wet sand it and polish it, you will still have the little specks that form a round circle...it sucks :(

Not if you take it down to the metal. Unfortunately, that is the only way to do it right.
