Effectiveness of a 5 day split?

    For about the past 8 months I've been on a 3 day split and have really begun to plateau. I was wondering if anyone has any input if it would be effective to change over to a 5 day split MON-FRI really working each area and taking weekends off. Is a week off rom each group too much rest? Any help would be appreciated.

    MON- Chest
    TUES- Back
    WED- Shoulders
    THURS- Arms
    FRI- Legs

    that looks like my old split except switch arms and legs.

    I was doing that for awhile and got burned out.

    I normally go to the gym every other day and do cardio on my off days.

    Thats basically my split - I jump rope before to warm up and after for a extended time for my cardio. Take two days off. Seems to be working fine.

    i put legs on wed to give upper body a rest during the week

    yeah i switched to that and did it for 8 weeks. GOOD IMPRESSIVE GAINS on my part.

    I gained 5lbs of muscle, so now i need to cut more so i'm doing compound circuit routines 3x a week
