How did you learn? Was it a book? website?

There are lots of books out there that teach the theory & facts of good interface & type design, i'm trying to find a good one to buy.

I can program the best sites out there, but can't design worth shit.

    :sadwavey:

    Any recommendations?

While there are tons of resources out there, I think some people are just born designers, and other are instinctively coders.

Im still in for more links though, cant hurt :)

Yup. I figured someone would bring that up. :)

I'm not talking graphic design. I'm talking user interface design. Nobody is born knowing usability. Whether its client server forms, web forms, or a page layout on the web...

I still think it applies to usability to an extent. There are some great resources on that site, but I want to know if when people sit out to design a page/forms/flow of the site, they actually think about everything they've read while they whip something up.

again, i'm not talking graphics. I know what you're trying to say, but i disagree. When I design a windows form at work, it has nothing to do with any type of art or graphics. Its all about whats easiest for the user to get the job done, according to the specs.

I'm wasn't talking about graphics in this case either, I don't think I explained clearly.
