Ive seen some of the russian gas masks for sale by HQ surplus for about $20 with filter, however there is a swiss or something one right next to it and it costs $70 or 80. I was wondering if there was much of difference in the perfomrance of these? Do they rate them by microns? Ive never had any experience with them.

I figure for $20 you cant beat a possible good investment for a shtf bag/scenario.

Link? A lot of cheapie masks either don't filter much out, have dry rot, or are just a shitty design to begin with. I've got an M-17 mask here that I MIGHT trust wearing into a really stinky port-a-john, but wouldn't want to count on it in a life-threatening situation.

Just ordered a Swiss setup from a different site. - 4starmilitarysurplus
    New mask.
    New filter
    Chemical poncho
    Chemical gloves
    carry bag

    $59 shipped.
However there was a problem processing so they will do it manually.
Ebay sells 5 and 10 piece sets of replacement filters for $5 to $7 per filter

Cant wait to bring this to a goth rave :embd:

Yeah, of those three you had posted, the Swiss one looks the best. It's really nice to be able to change your filter without having to take off the mask, should the need arise. Those filters are only good for X-number of hours in a chemical environment. It took me 20 minutes under ideal conditions to change filters in my M-17... and the mask had to be taken off. Pretty sure I can't hold my breath and keep my eyes closed for that long to change filters in an NBC situation.

If your going to buy one for a life/death situation dont go with the lowest bidder. I scuba dive and the last thing you want to buy is el cheapo equipment.

    I've got a modern military issue M40 w/carry bag and 2 filters.

When I was in the military, I believed in having my own gear. I've got my own gas mask and body armor. When "they" come to get "us" I'll be ready. :ugh:
