I haven't been in school for three years, I really need to go back and start going for my degree as soon as possible. Because of various personal problems, just going to a community college and transferring to a four year university doesn't seem to be working.

I also want to join to instill some discipline that I am severely lacking. I'm worried though that if I enlist, it'll set me back in my education even further. I was talking to an on line recruiter and based on what I said, they said that being a Information Technology Specialist (25B) is the best for me. Any ITS here? What's it like?

you can take college classes while in the military, and it doesn't come out of your MGIB, so when you get out you still have a shitton of cash to finish up college.

every computer nerd always wants to be 25B, don't be 25B

What's wrong with 25B? I want to be a computer programmer, it seems to be the one best suited for a future in programming?

    6yr contract, so glad I didn't do it. 4yr 25N contract.

Army is not the choice for literal "programming".

have you considered the air force or even navy yet? I was so gung ho about army this n army that when i was 19, until someone sat me down and showed me what the entire military had to offer. You said you are worried about setting your career back; the National guard (army and air force), also the reserves (USMC, army, air force, coast guard, navy) would allow you a better chance of working on both your military and professional careers at the same time (thats exactly what im doing). Explore your options.
