Im buying a new computer, and Im looking for a sub-$400 video card. I currently have ATI X850 XT (or whatever the more expesnive version is), but its AGP, and my new PC will be PCI-E.

There are so many video cards out there, I dont even know where to start.

I found BFG GeForce 7950 GT OC 512MB GDDR3, and it seems pretty good, but then there are the 7800GT with 256mb that are more expensive.... and Im like... WTF.

    help me!

If you can get the 7950GT do it.
    The 7900GTX would be better.

The first 3 things to look at when compare cards:
    GPU Core Clock speed
    Memory Clock speed
    PixelPipeline

With each of these more is better. However you can have a card with a slower GPU and Memory clock speed but higher number of PixelPipelines and the card will perform better than a card with faster GPU and Memory that has fewer PixelPiplines.

The prices vary depending on where you shop. And if you're comparing the price of one card at one shop to a different card some place else, the prices will vary even more so.

Do SLI video cards giver any performance boost to 2D applications like video editing, rendering, etc?

Im really interested in 7950GX2, but I dont know if its worth it, since I got a 2 monitor system.
