I am looking at picking up a Mosin. I know there is the popular M44 and they also have the 91/30. What is the difference between these? What should I look for to make sure I am getting a decent gun?

There are so many of these for sale and I want to make sure I'm not getting screwed into a bad buy. I am finding some for around ~$125-$175, any advice?

They're horrible guns and the walnut furniture rots to all hell.

    Good luck :hsugh:

    $194.50 + $20.00 shipping + whatever the FFL place charges. :)

Yeah, there were ones for $120-$150, but the wood was all beat up and they had corroded parts and I don't like buying shit that looks bad.

Anybody have any links to decent priced ammo?

Oh, and it can't be metal shit.. otherwise I can't fire it at the range. They have the policy that, "if the bullets stick to a magnet, you can't shoot it here".

Do you have any idea how much monte carlo walnut furniture costs for a Mosin?

You could have bought an excellent bore select Mosin for $95 shipped from InterOrdnance shipped
Then a Monte Carlo stock would cost $50 at the cheapest

This is my Bore hand select 91/30 from IO looked like upon arrival:
Stripper clips, stripping guide and ammo not included

Ive got a 91/30. Got it for 100 bucks from a buddy, no need to go through FFL either (usually person to person has to in CA, but since its older then 50, no need).

the damn thing sticks HARD with this round of ammo. I cant get the bolt open, unfortunatly ive got around 500 rounds of this stuff too.

Because I want my stuff to look good still. It won't be my last gun. ;)

I just loved the look of the walnut on there. If I like the gun I am sure I will pick up another one. Also, a lot of those stocks are ~$150+ for something similar to mine. Doesn't sound like I got a bad deal,.. really.

The ammo really isn't that cheap. The Wolf Gold ammo is like $15 for 20 rounds. The bulk ammo that is cheap was manufactorered in the 80s. Not only that, but its a steel casing and a steel bullet which means I can't shoot at the indoor ranges. They all have a "if it sticks to a magnet you can't use it" policy. :(

Just buy a couple boxes of brass ammo and then use the steel cased ammo that you hid when you came in.
Its like .10 a round for the steel cased ammo. Too good to pass up
