I want to replace my $80 red dot with something more reliable that can actually hold a zero. I've narrowed my choices down to eotech 512 / aimpoint ml2/3.

They are both good optics, and I can't narrow my choice down to one. It's going on a rifle that will be used for home defense and semi freqent range time.

I want to put a magnifier on it later sown the road and they both have good optics.

The main thing that's making me lean towards the aimpoint is the parallax effect on the eotech. But on the other hand, lots of troops use the eotech so if they're good for them, they should be good for me too.

I have 2 of each, 2 compM2's and an eotech that takes AA's and one that takes the N Cells. I prefer the Aimpoint anyday of the week. The AA Eotech has an ok battery life but my N Cell sucks.

Aimpoint C3. No NV settings or dive depth water proof rating but the same battery technology.

Alright then... anyone know of any discount codes for Larue Tactical?

I'm about to order this and I was curious if either you guys know of a better deal or maybe a discount code.

Aimpoint, turn it on and leave it on for years. Eotech turn it on, forget to turn it off and change the batteries the next day.

Love my Aimpoint ML3, although I've never owned anything else, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Edit: I take that back, a buddy of mine had an EOTech and it was cool, but not as cool as my coolidacious Aimpoint.

The last time I touched my AR was back in October when I went to an outdoor range and plinked around for a few hours.
Apparently I left my Aimpoint on from October until just 2 weeks ago when I pulled my AR out again to fiddle with it... the Aimpoint was still on, the dot was still red, and it's still got plenty of life left.

Yes I know it's sad that I didn't shoot my AR for like 6+ months :wtc:

I haven't owned an aimpoint but I have owned an eotech. Mine had problems with the batteries leaking. Not that big a deal but that coupled with battery life would make me buy an aimpoint over an eotech.

Batt life on Aimpoints are around 50,000 hrs.

    50,000 / 24hrs = 2083.33 Days

    2083.33 / 365 Days = 5.71 Years

So you can leave it on for a few years.

The guy said they're 10-14 days behind schedule on their mounts though :wtcd:. I got rush shipping so that I can still get it while on leave, otherwise it'll be a cluster fuck getting it to my next duty station.

    Have an Aimpoint CompM4...its great.
Buddy has an eotech on a shorty flattop. It's ok, but still like the Aimpoint better.
To each his own I guess.
