First game done by myself this season, 15 more to go. This Oil Kings year is basically a huge try-out for me.. As far as Oil Kings next season, Oilers in the future, and I've been contacted by Hockey Canada.. basically to say that they're watching my work :noes: And need one more shooter for international tournaments coming up :noes: (International as in HELD in other countries, not just other countries coming here)

Sick. How'd you get onto this team? Are they the equivelant to the calgary hitmen? farm team for oilers?

I want to get onto hockey photos but the practices are getting boring.

They're WHL, so yeah, same league as the Calgary Hitmen. They're not the farm team though, our farm team is in Springfield.

I got on because I'm the photo editor and part time photographer for the Edmonton Oilers.. The Oil Kings had a guy who did their photos basically for free (for $500 worth of merchandise), and he wasn't very good, so I worked my way in there. Now I'm their team photog, and I'm taking on a bigger photog role with the Oilers too (While still being their editor).

Got some nice action there man. To bad a few empty seats down front eh. When you are shooting side, you have holes or through the glass. It's really clean if so.

Maybe this year we will cross paths and shoot a game or two. Good stuff, as always.

How do you get overhead shots? :eek3:

:h5: D50 crew. Did you use 80-200mm 2.8 for these shots?

    Used the 70-200/2.8 VR

D50 works best with the lights, I wish I could use my D300 :wtc:

But I love the D50.. my throwaway is literally less than 1%

We have a total of 7 holes in the glass I think.. lots of different angles to choose from.
Yeah, there was NO ONE at this game.. least people I've ever seen I think. Next game should be fun.. the first 5000 fans get mullet wigs.. it's Mullet Night

What do you mean "D50 works best with the lights"? The lights they use inside the rink? How does that throw off your D300??

But holy shit... what was the final score, 30-22? Just about every shot you posted has a puck in the net.....

5-4 in a shoot out. So the last bunch of breakaway ones are just shoot out shots ;)

D50 has a sync speed of 1/500 while the D300 is only 1/250

D300 can sync well over 250 if your using an SB6,8,900

Thanks, that's my favorite as well. Would have been even better of I was a newspaper shooter and I could catch it at 8 FPS. I'm shooting at roughly 1 frame per 3 seconds at the fastest, so I always have to get the best moment in one shot, it's kinda shitty and stressful :noes:

Excellent work, Dylan. I've been trying to take cool action shots like this of my sons playing hockey...and they are nowhere close to your level.

Congrats on the opportunity, you'll do just fine! :bigthumb:

I'm jealous. We had holes in the corners for one game and for some reason they made them stupid huge. So it had to be removed and we're tryign to talk them into putting them back in regulation size. Why they made them big enough to stick my head through I have no idea.
