I notice that the v551 has EDGE but the v620 is GPRS.

Can anyone highlight the differences/advantages/disadvantages/tradeoffs of each?

    Thanks.

I'm asking because I'm torn between getting a 551 now and waiting for a 620.

EDGE is a higher speed GPRS when tethering to a computer. you wont notice any difference in speeds using the phones browser, only if its tethered.

Alot of information can be found here.

    EV-DO > EDGE > GPRS

Pineapple Devil is right you probably will not notice a difference in the speed on the phone unless you are uploading video or watching TV on your phone. You will defiantly notice a different when you are surfing from a computer though.
