Any economy cars from the east that are good on gas but also got it goin on as far as performance? That road is touched by electric cars...but for some reason theres no money in that industry yet for big automakers.

My maxima averages 32 on trips and 24 in all city. I ran a [email protected] stock, but it handles like a damn boat...

    Tesla?!?! Lotus?!?!

    Pricey as shit, but fun.

Again, PRICEY. Tesla's roadster is looking to be the trump card among zippy EFFICIENT roadsters.

    Rock the New MX5 Miata.

What are your requirements? Does it have to have 4-doors? Does it have to have a backseat? Do you require rear wheel drive? Does it have to be a brand new car? What's your price range?

If this is hypothetical, then I would say the best reasonably priced new 4-door RWD Jap car would be the G35 sedan, with the 6-spd. Used: IS300. FWD: best bang for your buck new is the new Civic Si 4-dr. AWD, WRX or Evo, AWD and a little bigger, MazdaSpeed 6. Cheap, fun, economical? Used Civic Si hatch ('02-'05), maybe Sentra SE-R Vspec, Toyota Celica GTS with the 6-spd.

I'm kinda all over the place on this, but we really need to know what you require to give you a good answer.

Scion xB? It only weighs 2500lbs or thereabouts, and you can actually fit things inside.

No V6 is economical. Look for a high-revving I4 with low gearing if you need torque and gas mileage in the same package.

Max is 34. Average used to be 28, but now it's around 24 because it's 100% city driving with my trips being 5 miles at the max...it takes me around 30 min to get to school and it's 3 miles away, so there's a lot of stop and go. Highway average is 32.

    That's from my 34mpg trip. I got 600 miles on 17.5 gallons...6-speed FTW.

Damn, I'm envious. With the 5spd/VQ30, I was at 2800rpms in 5th at 70mph. I usually got 32mpg at that speed on highway trips. Makes me wish I had put the 6spd in when I did the 3.5 swap...

My car isn't new, but I got 54mpg on my GZE all the way back from South Australia. This is at 110kph (cruise control) @ 3000rpm... - 1.6litre Supercharged

(god your fuel consumption numbers are weird :big grin:)

People with turbo proteges / escort GTs/ 323's with the 1.8 BP tend to get 30-32mpg while having a 13 second car. (i guess the miata would perform similarly since the 1.8 is almost identical)
