    Eclipse HUs (2005 vs 2004)

I really don't like the looks of Eclipse's 2005 HUs, I love them last year though. I was wondering if there were any sound quality or feature differences that would make it worth buying a new one? Do any of you guys who have shops or work at shops have some old Eclipse HUs to get rid of that you might make me a deal on?

From what I hear, there have been some changes made to sound processing resulting in better SQ. Not really sure on this so don't quote me. But after my first experience with an Eclipse HU, I will definately buy another regardless of looks.

Gotta agree with this guy. I've had my CD8454 for a year now and NEVER had any skipping problems, and I only have good things to say about this HU.

I read that was on the decks a few years ago. From waht I am reading now, the optical pickup is one of the best.

I'm happy with my 8454. Though, I am curious to see how the built in steering controls work on the 05 model.

From what I hear, the steering wheel controls are not functional yet.

has anyone had any experinece yet with the avn 5435? that thing looks awesome i'm soo tempted... either that or the cd8455 but hopefully we'll get some more reviews from people who have got them as far as the new 2k5's reliability

A couple people on here think they have reliability issues, but I don't think anyone debates the overall quality otherwise. I'll sell you my 2004 CD5444 if you want.

no matter how fantastic the hu's sound, it doesn't do any good if its being sent to eclipse half the time or u stuck only listening to the radio cuz ur cd is stuck:sadwavey:

i'm totally itching to buy one but i thought i'd look for some reassurance on some forums and still haven't found it. everyone agrees they sound great but reliability is another issue. we'll see what 2k5 brings in

    I've never had a problem with cd's.

I have owned 3 different eclipse decks, cd 8053 cd8443 and the cd 8051 and NEVER had a single problem. I used to sell them, only had one problem. I had more problems with alpines than eclipse's. I can't talk about the 05 models, b/c i haven't worked with them
