Late 90s, what do these things run in the quarter mile stock?
low 15's, maybe high 14's in ideal conditions
i think about mid 14s stock.. though can be taken to 13s with just free mods.
mid 14's stock?not likely
bone stock with a good driver can break a high 14 with the proper conditions like stated in a previous post..other than that i have seen them run low 15's consistantly
How easy/cheap is it to get them into the low 14s?
gsts run about a 15.1 stock.. now a awd dsm isnt goign to break into the 14s..
you dont live in colorado do you? or canada.. altitude might own u
Its extremely easy to drop a first generation GSX into the 14's, all you need is a K&N, and up the boost to 16-17psi on the 14b and you'll run low 14's all day long.
thank you.. 14b>t25
at least someone knows what they are talking about
duh the 14b is better than a t-2 small. Only stock turbo that can get into the 12's
And how would I go about raising the boost?
a $40 manual boost controller and a fuel pump rewire is the cheapest way. I installed a 255lph High Pressure walbro fuel pump and an AFPR when I cranked up the boost, because it's a better and tunable way to get more fuel, and it's was in prep for further upgrades.
get a K&N, cut the aircan to shit, remove the fibreboard intake silencer, MBC and fuel pump rewire and you should be hitting low 14's, high 13's all day long. Add a 3" turbo back into the mix and if you have a strong car and are a capable driver you can hit low 13's. I know someone who hit 12.9 with these mods, crazy, not too common, but possible.
EDIT: the above info was for 1G AWDs. The 1G ran from 1990-1994... I don't know what year your car is, but the 2G (95-99) is the same deal more or less when it comes to more boost..... you should replace the plastic BOV with a 1G unit if it's a 2G
Go to www.boostcontroller.com and buy one of those. I'd recommend the Joe P it's the best on that site for the money IMO. Then you route the tubes from the MBC (manual boost controller) to the turbo's boost source nipple to the bottom part of the MBC (bottom being the nipple opposite the adjustment screw) and the other nipple goes to the wastegate actuator. Here's a site that explains pretty much everything you need to know about your DSM. Check it out. http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html
Oh and screw dsmtalk, they're a bunch of nazi's, stick with dsmtuners.
what it's true. Ever heard of the Houston DSM Club thread? Yea i was a part of it, and they shut that shit down for no good reason. But that's okay now, we have our own site! WOOHOO! If anyone wants to check it out it's www.eosperformance.com/forum
NABR owns you all
I'm in NABR
I don't even own a GSX...I'm just curious about them...I think I want to try to find one.
Anyone who owns an AWD DSM and knows what they have is not likely to sell it. I'm VERY lucky i found my 2nd awd after my first was stolen. Good luck, you'll need it.
I've noticed they're few and far between
i ran 14.8 bone stock
i'm dropping a 1g top end onto my car with HKS 264/264 cams with adjustable gears, and eliminating my balance shafts at the moment. MUAHAHAHAHAHA low 12's here i come!
I have a '92 TSi AWD for sale. Has 6 bolt block, and 4 bolt rearend. Big Brkes too. PM for details.
