Anybody else heard of this? The basic idea is it caches frequently-used files in FLASH or RAM to reduce latency when reading those files. I tried it with a 4GB CompactFlash card plugged into an IDE adaptor, and while I didn't notice a fantastic increase in speed, there was quite a bit less fussing coming from my Raptors during user login and when loading apps like Firefox and Photoshop and Civilization 4.

It would be fun to try with a Velociraptor array and a small SLC SSD. :coold: (and something newer than an Athlon XP. :()

I'm using a Lexar 300x CF card and an IDE adaptor. Gives me about 45MB/s transfer speed, but more importantly, zero seek time. Even with a high-speed USB thumb drive there is a noticeable improvement.
