I've heard this mentioned many times on this forum.

What's the rational for this? Do any of guys actually do it?

I've been working out for a few years now and my diet is pretty decent. This is more of a point of curiosity than anything. Google wasn't much help.

Mentioned it what context, positively or negatively? I don't really ever see the point in eating a whole bunch of carbs alone unless it's a refeed day or you're an enduro-weenie.

from everything i've read you are supposed to eat carbs WITH protein. obviously this is more of a bulking exercise, but bulking or cutting, you should be having protein with every meal.

I respond better to low carb diets, period. If i ate carbs like a lot of people here i'd be a mushy mess.

    .

Protein + carbs for breakfast and post workout. (pre-workout too, sometimes.)

Protein + fats later in the day.

Carbs + Fats together, is pointless (except it tastes great  peanut butter in oatmeal )

    This.

Every meal should be protein rich.

I've read that your meals should be protein + fats or protein + carbs though... Never all three.

At least this is what the book "cut diet" recommended. Not that I follow it :mamoru:

I eat oatmeal and peanut butter all the time for breakfast. I think it's pretty nutritious and I'm def seeing results.

When the book is saying not to eat Carbs and Protein together it's talking about eating something like a burger and fries, or a steak and mashed potatoes. Basically don't mix simple, starchy carbs with your protein as it will increase GI response.

Eating some broccoli/spinach/veggies with your meat is the way to go imo. It will only add like 10g carbs max and adds a ton of nutrition and fiber to your diet.

Perhaps I mixed it up then.
