Well this what I've been doing. I'm doing it fairly clean also. Fast food maybe once a week if that. Taking in upped cals and protien and am averaging 2lbs a week.

However, is getting FAT part of this 'Eat big to get big' theory? I have built up some muscle, but my stomach is growing faster than any muscle I have :greddy:

I understand that I'm probably gaining more fat than muscle at this point, but thats due to eating big. Is it truely helping out in building muscle as well?

Its hard to keep pushing myself to eat, eat, eat when my gut is already bigger than my chest :wtc:

You can't gain just muscle, you will gain some fat too. But if you're gaining drastically more fat than muscle, slow down the weight gain and try to minimize it. Add in some cardio.

You want to eat enough to feed the extra demand(both for energy and amino acids) created by muscle growth, but not so much more than that, that its being stored as fat.

you can only build muscle so fast, a large excess of calories is going to lead to fat gain regardless of how "clean" the foods are. On the other hand, too small of a calorie excess leads to no or slow gains. You have to find the sweet spot for yourself.

I eat big by eating anything with protein and a lot of it. IE.. today for lunch 2.5 servings of rice (16g), 1 chicken breast (24g), 1 vanilla yogurt (9g), and a protein shake (24g)... for a total of 73 grams at lunch. I try to watch cals/fat and load up on carbs (the right kind, non sugar) and protein.

I was really surprised when I realized I wasn't gaining anything at 3000. A few months earlier I was cutting at 1500-2000.

my problem is i have no appetite, i can go till 6pm before i even remember to eat. i have to make a conscious effort to try to eat enough just not to lose weight. i also eat so cleanly that calories are hard to come by, im turning to pbj sandwiches.

you are correct, but gaining weight != gaining muscle
eating 3 big macs a day would definitely make me gain weight but the drawbacks to that approach far outweigh the benefits

I agree...well for me at least. I was averaging 2lbs a week since I started my bulk and didn't like the form my body was taking. I cut back a little last week and gained 1.5lbs last week...little better :wiggle:
