I got a heavier bag for christmas and the chain it came with is much more sturdy than my old bag's, so I'd like to use it. The problem is, the beam I'm hanging it from is too low to use the whole chain, otherwise the top of the bag would be at my chest level and the bottom of the bag would likely be an inch from the ground. I want to remove the top links and just have it connect without the extra links at the top.

In essence, I need to unbend a 1/4 inch S-link to have about 1/2 an inch of space. I tried using two sets of pliers and just two sides of it in opposite directions but that's not working out so well :o Any suggestions?
