Friend of mine just got a MBP, and he needs help moving all of his shit from his PC to the new MBP.

Whats the easiest way? I'm thinking of just using an external HD, rather than setting up a USB connection or something like that

    external would be easiest

all you need to do is boot in target mode. connect the mbp to the pc using a firewire cable and hold down the "t" key when you boot the mbp pro.

    boom an external

just connect the two with an ethernet cable and turn on sharing.. O think this is a fast alternative if u dont have firewire on the pc.. There are tons of tutorials online...

External drive is going to be the fastest and easiest method. Burning to CD/DVD would be a good option because afterwards you have a backup copy.
