So I might be doing some deer hunting around X-mas so my dad decided to give me my present early to get it sighted in. It's a 6.5mm JDJ

Wow that looks really nice. That'll be one of those guns that gets passed down from generation to generation. :coold:

    For reference:

    http://www.sskindustries.com/ssk.htm

My dad has had a .375 JDJ for years and that is a serious cartridge (444 Marlin necked to .375) but this is a lot better suited to whitetail.

Oh, and no it's not muzzle/pistol only around here, I just like hunting with a pistol. Especially when it'll shoot just as you can see in southeastern woods (and nearly as far as my 7.08 for that matter). I mean it's not like you should need more than one shot to kill a deer anyway.

I just read you can neck up then fire form .225 Winchester to get cases. I usually dislike custom calibers for availability's sake, but this one seems easy enough to "make" cases for. Plus it uses 6.5mm bullets which are easy enough to get.

Yeah, his stuff is pretty cool in that most of his wildcats use std cases with different necks. It means you pretty much have to reload to make it worthwhile but I'm OK with that, I reload pretty much anything I hunt with anyway :)

Oh, and he supplies very extensive reloading data for all of his rounds as well so you're not limited to one powder or left guessing and slowly working up loads either.
