Yeah. But hopefully the E-5 to O-1E turnover is relatively quick.

I'm stuck in this crew for a few more months until I can get back to the damn rifle range.

E4 has nothing on E5. E5 is easily the greatest rank in the military. You're too low to actually get yelled at by anyone of importance because your chiefs yell at your LPO, and for the most part your LPO soaks it up.. but your high enough that you generally don't have to do the shitty jobs (no chipping, painting, cranking, tiger teams ftw).

Obviously the above matters none if you are in a rate like mine where everyone is an E5 so there's no one below you to do the shitty work, and your E6s are complete retards and your chiefs skip by them completely and come to you ><

I go to meetings where E-7 and below are kicked out so they can do the real closed doors ass reamings. They let me stick around if I choose because I build the slides for the meetings (I was specifically told that I could stay because I know how to keep my mouth shut) but once they ask people to leave I'm usually out the door.

Full bird private really isn't my style, I'm shooting for E-5 before my contract is up.

So true. I thought I had it made as an E-4... until I made E-5.
