my friend is preparing to put 5.0 liter V12 from an E38(?) 750iS into an E30. And he wants to turbo it... ridiculous.

it has been done before, but goddamn! i just want to drive it when it's finished.

right now he just has the motor sitting in his shop. he wants to get started in a few weeks time. he still needs to find a car in good shape to drop it in, and he's working on three other projects right now.

next time i go over there, i'll take some pictures.

he said when he's done it'll be around 800+ HP with low boost (~7 or 8 psi).

It'll work. But it will over heat. The old 750's were notorious for getting to hot, due mostly because of their engine bay. I don't think an E30 will be any better. Honestly, I would go with their 5.0 v8 and throw turbo's on it. The v12 is the same displacement but the v8 is shorter. Of course the v12 will sound much better, you'd be hunting for tunnels to rev thru

manuals are rare for the V12 and i cant understand why anyone would want an auto, so what has he got?

Dinan did a twin turbo kit for the 750 and it was a really tight fit...in the 750.

like I said, it will never work, there is no enough room, its impractical, heavy, and stupid.

Yeah not too much room for a turbo let alone a twin turbo setup.

It's not like you call up a bunch of local wreckers/recyclers and ask them for a manual gearbox to suit an M70. There just isnt a lot of them about to begin with.
