I put the DVD in, click on Open Disc, and then during the analysis process, this error comes up. Any ideas?

I've tried other DVDs that are in perfect shape and the same error comes up.

Could be copy protection on the disks. Shrink hasn't been updated in a very long time. DVDDecrypter or newer programs (anydvd, DVDFab) may be able to get around it better. Rip it to disk then use shrink on the copy.

Running the latest version of AnyDVD in the background will probably fix the problem.

99% of CRC errors means a bad disc...

If you're convinced the disc is good, search the movie name on forums.afterdawn.com for some info.

:uh: I spent all weekend looking for a shrink replacement. I have Nero 7 but I don't like the Recode (which is really shrink) interface. Why didn't you post this Friday and save me all that time!!

    Thanks!

Anyone else notice newer drives seem more sensitive to disc damage? I have an old Creative Labs 8X dvd-rom drive I keep around because it seems to be able to read discs when everything else I have (6 different DVD drives) can't.

I've noticed the inability to back up a lot of movies lately. I just figured my drive was getting old and not reading as well. Then, I noticed my version of AnyDVD had expired. duh.

You can do that with AnyDVD, DVD Shrink, and DVD Decrypter.

It's really only a one step process for me. AnyDVD will make it look like the disc is not encrypted just by running in the background. I open up DVD Shrink and set it up how I want to and then use the make .iso and burn with DVD Decrypter option.

I do have a DVD-ROM and separate DVD burner, so I'm able to have DVD Shrink automatically close and open DVD Decrypter to burn.

I personally use DVD X COPY Platinum. And it works for me, AKA Netflix.

what the hell. So I'm trying anydvd now...getting further, but at about 70% in dvd shrink it tells me

"DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

    Out of memory.

Not enough storage is available to process this command."

    :wtf:

I have over 50 gb of free space...it is definitely not running out of storage. My machine is also 1GB ram.

    Can anyone help?
