i'm guessing you have a dvd-rw drive and not a dvd-ram drive. that is your problem.
get ahold of a copy of nero and things should be good

Go to the DVD drive manufacturer's website and see if they have a firmware update for your specific drive. If that doesn't make Nero work right, and the basic Windows XP CD burner works fine, then Nero is the problem. All I can say then is to buy a new version of the software, or just uninstall Nero and use the basic Windows XP CD burner. If the basic Windows XP CD burner DOESN'T work, then your drive might be dead, or your data cable might be dead, or the plug might just be loose. Fix those in the order of least-expensive-to-most-expensive.

Matshita = Matsushita = The Japanese name for Panasonic. Check the Panasonic website and see if they have anything helpful.

I did, I couldn't find anything. The only firmware thing I found for it I am hesitant to use because I don't want to fuck anything up.
