Handbrake has never failed me. Unless you're looking for actual DVD archive rips.

wtf do you need all those programs for?

    On a mac:

with mactheripper, you can rip video_ts folder, drag it to blank dvd and burn, and you have yourself a copied dvd

with roxio popcorn you can compress a DVD-DL and burn a video_ts folder to fit on a single Layer dvd.

with handbrake you can extract the video file (and extra features if you choose) and convert them into mp4.

    what could be easier?

well, ripit4me is freeware that combines all those programs and it's continually updated to combat the newest encryption

it's actually pretty cool watching it open up the individual programs, processing/ripping, then handing off the data to the next program

really it only takes a couple of clicks, then 15 minutes later you have your video ts folder opened up in dvd shrink, ready for compression etc

when you author a dvd its like making your own kind of. put in whatever parts you want in whatever sequence, and thats the way it'll play in your dvd player. i use it to get rid of menus and everything, when i put an authored dvd in my player the movie starts right up. no extra languages or menu's.

Semantics. If someone doesn't know what "author" means, you try and relate the meaning in other terms...oh well.

Sorry, that's not what I meant :). On a related note, is there a refined process for extracting audio from a DVD? For instance, the live performance of Reptile on NIN's "And All That Could Have Been..." is amazing and I would love to have it in MP3 form...
